The Director of Marketing oversees all marketing for the company and is responsible for developing the strategic vision and executing the tactical implementation of company-wide marketing activities. Ultimately, the key performance metrics for this position will be an increase in the quantity and quality of company-generated leads. This is a hands-on role.

Reporting to the President, the Director of Marketing is a creative, hands-on marketer with strong strategic, tactical and project management skills. The Director will be responsible for creating unified Corporate Positioning & Branding which will lead to the creation and/or updating of all Corporate Marcom assets including websites, data sheets, brochures, reports, case studies, etc.

Additional duties include the creation of Proprietary Content/Thought Leadership, managing SEO activities and developing Public Relations and Online Ad programs.

The  successful Director of Marketing  candidate will have extensive, documented success implementing similar programs for other Data and/or Direct Marketing companies along with excellent business and creative/advertising copywriting skills.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities- Director of Marketing

  • Create Unified Corporate Positioning & Branding
  • Strategic marketing plan development & execution
  • Redesign websites with SEO best practices (website development & maintenance)
  • Position Company as Thought Leaders and create Proprietary Content (Case Studies, White Papers, etc.)
  • Create and manage online PR & Advertising programs (SEO Press Releases, Newsletter Ads, Banner Ads, etc.)
  • Create and manage Email Marketing programs
  • Create and manage Corporate Newsletter

Essential Functions Detail

Create unified corporate positioning & branding:

  1. Assist in the development of overall positioning & branding
  2. Develop unified “look & feel” for all online and offline corporate marcom assets

Strategic marketing plan development & execution:

  1. Assist in the development of the strategic marketing plan
  2. Includes objectives, strategies, specific tactics and action plans
  3. Assume responsibility for the execution of the strategic marketing plan
  4. Assume significant responsibility for the execution of the tactics in the plan
  5. Determine performance metrics for tactics, conduct post mortems

Web site development and maintenance:

  1. Develop web site content including video content
  2. Handle all aspects of website execution including design, content, and deployment
  3. Assume responsibility for quarterly web site content reviews
  4. Assist in development and interpretation of web site metrics
  5. Utilize SEO best practices to obtain high SERP rankings and increase our lead flow

Position company as thought leaders & create proprietary content (Case Studies, White Papers, etc.):

  1. Assist in the development of thought leadership content
  2. Includes inventory and review of existing materials
  3. Includes writing and editing of these materials
  4. Includes development and execution of a deployment plan

Create and manage online PR & advertising programs (SEO Press Releases, Newsletter Ads, Banner Ads, etc.):

  1. Planning, writing and executing SEO-friendly Public Relations campaigns
  2. Create and execute online media plan to generate cost effective leads and increase awareness

Create and manage email marketing programs:

  1. Create advertising calendar
  2. Create Email content, offers, copy, etc..
  3. Manage deployment
  4. Determine performance metrics for tactics, conduct post mortems

Create and manage corporate newsletter:

  1. Create editorial calendar and content
  2. Manage creation/execution of newsletter via internal/external resources
  3. Manage deployment

Required Skills/Experience

  • 10+ years marketing experience, BA/BS in related area required.
  • Experience in the Data and/or Direct Marketing Industry
  • Proven Strategic and Tactical experience
  • Demonstrated success with corporate Branding & Positioning efforts
  • Demonstrated success with Website Rebuild/Relaunch projects
  • Demonstrated success developing Thought Leadership/Proprietary Content programs
  • Direct Marketing Lead Generation experience
  • SEO/SEM experience
  • Strong writing and copy editing skills (emails, case studies, white papers, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong hands-on project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and work with external resources, freelancers, etc.
  • Creative, high energy, proactive, and resourceful.
